What is a UV DTF printer?

A UV DTF printer prints your design onto a film with UV-curable ink: an adhesive layer, white, color and a clear varnish, cured instantly by UV LED light. A second film is laminated on top. To use it, you peel the backing and press the transfer onto a hard surface with your fingers. No heat press, no oven, no washing.

The result feels raised and glossy, is water- and scratch-resistant, and sticks to curved items that a flatbed can't reach. That's why UV DTF is popular for tumbler wraps, bottle labels, phone cases, helmets and branded packaging.

UV DTF is not DTF. DTF transfers are for fabric and need powder and a heat press. UV DTF transfers are for hard surfaces and need no heat. For apparel, see our DTF printers.

How to choose a UV DTF printer

  1. Width: 12–13 in or 24 in12–13 in suits labels, small wraps and custom orders. 24 in prints full tumbler wraps several at a time and is built for wholesale sheets.
  2. VolumeUnder a few dozen items a day, a 13 in machine is enough. Selling transfer sheets or running orders all day, choose a 24 in i3200 printer.
  3. FinishingWant metallic gold or silver labels? Choose a model with hot foil. Want the second film applied automatically at 24 in? Choose the laminator model.
  4. Power and spaceMost production models run on 220V, which is common in US workshops but not in every home office. The 12 in hot-foil model accepts 110–220V. Check weight and footprint on each product page.

UV DTF printer FAQ

How much does a UV DTF printer cost?

At DTF Gears, UV DTF printers start at $6,399 for the Procolored VF13 Pro and $6,999 for the Audley 13-inch. 24-inch production models cost $14,499 to $22,000 with the inline laminator. Financing is available at checkout.

What is the difference between UV DTF and DTF?

DTF transfers are made for fabric: they use powder adhesive and a heat press. UV DTF transfers are made for hard surfaces such as cups, bottles and phone cases: they are cured by UV light and applied by hand with no heat.

What can you make with a UV DTF printer?

Tumbler and cup wraps, bottle and jar labels, phone cases, signs and awards, packaging, helmets and metallic foil labels. Many shops also sell UV DTF transfer sheets wholesale.

Which UV DTF printer is best for beginners?

For a first UV DTF printer, a 12–13 inch machine is the easiest start. The Procolored VF13 Pro prints and laminates in one unit, and the Audley 13-inch adds light cyan and light magenta for smoother color. Move to a 24-inch model when you sell transfer sheets or run orders all day.

Do UV DTF transfers need a heat press?

No. Peel the backing film, place the transfer and press it down firmly by hand, then peel the top film away.

Should I choose a 13-inch or a 24-inch UV DTF printer?

Choose 12–13 inches for labels, small wraps and custom orders in a small space. Choose 24 inches for production: full tumbler wraps several at a time, wholesale transfer sheets, and up to 10 square metres an hour on the Audley 24-inch.

Do I need 220V power for a UV DTF printer?

Most production UV DTF printers run on 220V. The Audley 12-inch hot-foil model accepts 110–220V. Check the voltage on each product page and confirm your outlet before ordering.
